Kennedy Cup

Rules

Eligibility: Friends of the Kennedy family are always welcome to play, but you must be a member of the family by blood or marriage to be eligible to win the cup (except for Gino, who has put his time in).

There will be two awards, one for low gross score and the other for low Callaway score.

Five dollars registration fee per person. This money goes to the low gross winner.

The jacket and the "Ginger" (the Virginia "Ginger" Kennedy Memorial trophy) go to the Callaway winner.

The lucky Kennedy Cup jacket must make an appearance at every family function.

Money for "Longest Drive" and "Closest to the Pin" holes shall be collected prior to starting the round.

Other than these amendments, U.S.G.A. rules of golf apply.

No hole shall be scored more than three above par in Callaway scoring.  If you are trying to win low gross, keep your actual score, because this rule does not apply for low gross competition. Your scores will be adjusted prior to Callaway calculation.

One Mulligan per 9 holes - Any one shot excluding putts.  If you elect to hit a Mulligan ball, you must now play that ball.  You cannot carry over a Mulligan to the second 9 holes.  Note: In the low gross calculation, two strokes will be added for each mulligan taken (one for the initial bad shot and another as a penalty shot). These are added after the round, so mulligans should be used during play to possibly lower your Callaway score.

The 2 keeper holes will not be identified prior to play.  They will be chosen randomly after the round of golf has been played.

A ball in the water is hit from the point of entry, with a one stroke penalty.

A ball in the woods or lost ball: you must elect to either:

Re-hit from the tee, now hitting your 3rd stroke

Hit from within one club length of point of entry with a one stroke penalty

          Play it as it lies.

No out of bounds

In short, all hazards are played as red stake lateral hazards.

You may take preferred lies, but only on your own fairway.

Low gross tie will be settled by same day sudden death playoff from 10th hole; this will have no effect on the Callaway score.

Callaway tie will go to the person who had the lowest handicap, i.e. the person with the lowest gross score. Further ties resolved by sudden death playoff using regular scoring.

In order to win both low gross and Callaway, Callaway must be won outright (i.e. not by tie-breaker as described in rule 16). In the event of a Callaway tie where low gross winner is involved: low gross winner wins low gross only and remaining contender(s) determine Callaway winner by above tiebreaker.
